Women in Music is an organization with a mission to advance the awareness, equality, diversity, heritage, opportunities, and cultural aspects of women in the musical arts through education, support, empowerment, and recognition. From LA to Japan, our members are a diverse group of individuals at all stages in their careers — from students to seasoned industry veterans.

Shesaid.so is a global independent community of women and gender nonconforming people in the music industry. The shesaid.so community consists of women, gender nonconforming people and ALLIES from all sectors of the music industry: from record labels, artist management companies, and booking agencies, through to technology platforms, creative agencies, composers, artists and more.

Women in the US Music Industry: Obstacles and Opportunities
This report presents the results from a survey designed to examine the socioeconomic landscape of women working in the music industry across the United States. The survey was designed to build upon existing research on inclusion in the music industry and asked questions about demographics, employment, career challenges, and job satisfaction among women.
NIVA IDEA Committee
The purpose of the IDEA committee is to create and share resources for members to use in their efforts to work toward greater equity, inclusion, diversity, and accessibility; to amplify initiatives launched by other groups and organizations within the entertainment industry; and encourage venues, promoters, and festivals to prioritize and support IDEA work and initiatives within their businesses and communities.
RAMPD
RAMPD (Recording Artists and Music Professionals with Disabilities) is a professional platform equipping the music and live entertainment industry with disability inclusive tools, programming and strategy. RAMPD also connects the industry to a global directory of peer-vetted music/sound creators and industry professionals to bring competitive opportunities, visibility and community to our Professional Members while offering disability inclusion to Industry/Venue partners.
The Show Must Be Paused
Our mission is to hold accountable the industry at large, including major corporations and their partners, who benefit from the efforts, struggles and successes of Black people. It is the obligation of these entities to protect and empower the Black communities that have made them disproportionately wealthy in ways that are measurable and transparent. Music Forward inspires ambition and creates a momentum to redefine what’s possible for the young people and the industry we serve. Focusing on young people ages 12-22 in underserved communities, we set the stage for success by providing workshops and showcases to inspire the next generation of music industry leaders, innovators, and artists.

POC in Audio
Directory of people of color who work in audio around the world. You’ll find editors, hosts, writers, producers, sound designers, engineers, project managers, musicians, reporters, and content strategists with varied experience from within the industry and in related fields.
DAWA
DAWA honors, celebrates, and empowers the essential work of BIPOC community frontliners through direct financial support and culturally relevant health-centered programming. DAWA is a safety net for people of color who are experiencing short-term life crises. More specifically, people of color who are: musicians, artists, social workers, teachers, healing practitioners, and service industry workers.

Black Music Action Coalition
BMAC is an advocacy organization formed in alliance with #TheShowMustBePaused. Our Coalition advocates on behalf of Black artists, songwriters, producers, managers, agents, executives, lawyers and other passionate industry professionals. We have come together to address racism within the music industry and society at large.
Nonprofit AF
NAF is a blog that discusses all things nonprofit with a slant toward equity, including the challenges faced by leaders and organizations of color. Topics include bringing more inclusive hiring and fundraising practices into the nonprofit sector.
Women in Music Mentorship Program
The WIM Mentorship Program provides professional development and leadership training to its members with the goal of driving a more diverse and inclusive group of individuals into decision-making roles to benefit our industry, the greater arts community, and the world at large.
Soundgirls Online Mentoring
Become a mentor for the next generation of women in audio! SoundGirls Members are invited to sign-up for online mentoring and will be grouped with six to eight SoundGirls for two online sessions with a mentor. Mentors volunteering their time are professionals working in audio in a wider range of fields from Recording Arts, Live Sound, Post-Production Audio, Audio Manufacturing, and more.
Project Include
An interactive website offering recommendations for a number of different areas related to DEI in the workplace. While they are mostly geared toward tech companies, each area includes case studies and other helpful articles and resources at the bottom of the specific suggestions provided. As a result, we think this is a great resource for folks in any industry.
